Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Faculty of Biological Sciences, in 1993. She obtained a doctorate in Biological Sciences from the UB, Faculty of Medicine, in 1997. She is a full professor in the Area of ​​Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) since 2003. 

In research, she is part of the MoBioFood research group, recognized by the Generalitat de Catalunya, as a Consolidated Group. She has published more than 100 scientific articles in international journals indexed to the Journal of Citation Reports. 

She has received 4 consecutive research awards and one for knowledge transfer (2020) by ANECA. 

She has supervised and co-supervised 4 doctoral thesis, all of them defended with European Mention. She has also supervised different Ending Degree and Master's Projects in the Master of Nutrition and Metabolism. 

In teaching, she has taught and teaches at all university academic levels (Bachelors and Masters) in the Degrees of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Degree in Biotechnology and Double Degree related to the Master's Degree in Nutrition and Metabolism. Consequently, she has received 3 teaching recognitions (the last in 2019) from the Ministerio de Educación y Formación Profesional del Gobierno de España.  

Since 1996, her research has focused on the study of the bioactivity of foods in the human diet and their protective role against diseases as an inflammatory component, such as obesity, Metabolic Syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. 

In management, has coordinated the Biotechnology Degree for 8 years and has participated in the adaptation of the Degree to the EHEA (Pla Bologna) and has generated double derived Degrees and Mentions in the Degree Title. She has also coordinated the Mobiofood Research Group for 4 years.
